چکیده

Left internal mammary artery (LIMA) is the most commonly used graft during coronary bypass surgery. LIMA side branches are clipped during surgery in order to prevent coronary steal. In cases of patent LIMA side branches, there are differingapproaches. Herein, we report a case with patent thoracic side branch of LIMA graft, occlusion of this side branch by Amplatzer Vascular Plug because of documented myocardial ischemia, and long term follow-up results.

Optimal treatment of unligated side branch of internal mammary artery: Coil, amplatzer vascular plug or graft stent? A case report and literature review.

Coronary artery steal syndromes may occur following coronary artery bypass grafting as a result of the presence of large side-branches arising from the internal mammary artery (IMA). Coil embolization, Amplatzer Vascular Plug and graft stents are all used for the treatment of such syndromes. The literature contains limited data on the long-term success of these treatment methods. There is no la...

Case Report Physiologic Functional Evaluation of Left Internal Mammary Artery Graft to Left Anterior Descending Coronary Artery Steal due to Unligated First Thoracic Branch in a Case of Refractory Angina

Unligated side branches of the left internal mammary artery (LIMA) have been described in the literature as a cause of coronary steal resulting in angina. Despite a number of studies reporting successful side branch embolization to relieve symptoms, this phenomenon remains controversial. Hemodynamic evidence of coronary steal using angiographic and intravascular Doppler techniques has been supp...

Peripheral vascular applications of the Amplatzer vascular plug.

PURPOSE To present our experience using the Amplatzer vascular plug in various arterial and venous systems, and follow-up results. MATERIALS AND METHODS Between May 2005 and October 2006, 20 Amplatzer vascular plugs were used to achieve occlusion in 20 vessels in 12 patients (10 male, 2 female) aged between 24 and 80 years (mean age, 55 years). Localization and indications for embolotherapy w...

Ischemia induced by coronary steal through a patent mammary artery side branch: a role for embolization.

Non-occlusion of the internal mammary artery side branches may cause ischemia due to flow diversion after coronary artery bypass grafting. The authors present the case of a 67-year-old man with recurrent angina after undergoing myocardial revascularization with a left internal mammary artery to left anterior descending bypass. He presented with impaired anterior wall myocardial perfusion in the...
